Adobe has announced updates for Lightroom Mobile (iOS 2.6 and Android 2.2.2), Lightroom CC (Lightroom 6.8) and Adobe Camera Raw 9.8.

The Lightroom CC 6.8 / 2015.8 update adds a new Reference View mode to the Develop Module which allows you to compare two different images in order to make them more consistent in appearance.

Adobe says this will be useful for photographers processing a batch of images from the same event where mixed lighting conditions may have produced different tones.

How to use Lightroom’s Reference View

1. Go to the Develop Module

2. Click on Reference View. It’s on the Toolbar, and you may need to show the Toolbar if hidden

3. Drag and Drop your Reference Photo onto the left pane. You can change your Reference Photo by either dragging a different image onto the left pane or using the

“Set as Reference Photo” context menu in the Library Module.

4. Edit the active photo. Use the Reference Photo to guide your editing decisions.

Other Lightroom updates

Adobe says it has also made changes to improve the responsiveness of users’ Lightroom experience, particularly editing when background tasks are running, moving files between folders and running catalog backups.

Lightroom CC also now offers a zoom to fit and zoom to fill feature. Adobe says that previous versions of Lightroom wouldn’t completely fill the Loupe window when using ultra high-resolution monitors.

Other new Lightroom 6.8 features include the ability to filter or create a Smart Collection for images that have Snapshots associated with them and export a Collection Set as a new catalog.
