Winners of the British Wildlife Photography Awards 2016 have been revealed, with George Stoyle of North Yorkshire claiming the overall title for his striking image of a jellyfish.

George was working on assignment for Scottish National Heritage to assess the current biological status of major sea caves around some of the UK’s most remote islands the he came face to face with a large Lion’s mane jellyfish.

“As I approached cautiously I noticed a number of juvenile fish had taken refuge inside the stinging tentacles,” Stoyle says.

The British Wildlife Photography Awards are now in their 7th year, and all the winning images will be published in a high-quality coffee table book from AA Publishing.

What’s more, the winners are now on exhibit at the Mall in London and will begin a nationwide tour later this year.
