Sigma, Tamron to stop making Sony A-mount lenses: report

News

Both Sigma and Tamron may soon stop making lenses compatible with Sony A-mount, according to reports.

Photo Rumors states that a reader got in touch, who claimed to have had a conversation with a representative from Sigma and the rep confirmed that the lens-maker will no longer release lenses compatible with Sony A-mount cameras.

Photo Rumors goes on to say that it has also been told Tamron is considering the same strategy unless sales for that mount pick up.

The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di USD G2 was the most recent Tamron lens to be released for Sony A-mount.

Sigma currently offers a wide range of lenses for Sony A-mount cameras, such as the 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM and 24-105mm f/4 DG HSM Art lens.

Sony’s most recent A-mount camera was the Sony A99 II, which it announced at Photokina 2016.
